How much does this cost?

The cost of membership is $50 per month paid quarterly.

How do I connect with my mentor?

Skype, Zoom or Google Hangouts. Mentors and mentees are able to set their communication tools in their profile settings.

Do I have to pay for membership and then pay again to speak to mentors?

What do I get with membership?

  • Direct access to schedule 1:1 calls with highly skilled, vetted mentors
  • Unlimited calls with mentors listed as FREE
  • Ability to post help requests and have mentors apply to you
  • Ability to opt in for 1:1 monthly coaching packages
  • Ongoing support from admin with mentor suggestions
  • Membership to private Slack Community and Facebook Group

Absolutely not. Membership on GrowthMentor gives you the ability to book unlimited free calls with any mentor that's listed as free. Around 75-80% of the mentors are listed as free. If you want to choose a mentor that charges for their time, then that's extra, but it's completely optional. Even those that do charge just charge some token amount like 10-20$ for qualification reasons. nobody on here is mentoring to get rich here.

Why do mentors have to have 3 reviews before they can charge for sessions?

GrowthMentor is a GIVE FIRST platform.

This policy literally enforces that.

This allows members to get access to high level advice at no extra cost. If an extremely experienced mentor comes on to the platform with a super impressive resume, they will do their first few calls for free – so even bootstrapped startups can get on a call with them.

With all of that being said, we do believe that mentors should be able to choose if they want to be reimbursed for the time after they get their feet wet and get some experience under the belt.

Simple answer
Because they are nice people.

Why are so many mentors free?

Extended answer

  • They genuinely enjoy helping.
  • They want to share their experiences and help others learn from them.
  • Sharing their experiences, wins and failures can truly change the trajectory of someone else’s path.
  • It keeps them on their toes. No better way to sharpen your skills than to teach someone else!
  • Speaking with up and coming businesses is fun and exciting!
  • Growth Mentors have a growth mindset and are looking to learn in each and every situation- including mentoring sessions.
  • They are new to platform. New mentors are asked to do some free sessions in the beginning to get their feet wet and get a feel for the platform.
  • They want to build up reviews. They know they can add value and help people, so why should they be at the bottom of the list?!

What is the acceptance rate of mentor applicants that apply to become growth mentors?

Over 4,000 people have applied to join the platform as of the date of writing this, we've accepted just 188 of them, that's around a 4.7% acceptance rate.

GrowthMentors need at least 5 years of experience working in growth marketing, with startups, or in technology companies and must demonstrate a strong command of and working experience in the categories of mentorship they wish to provide on the platform.

Growthmentor is about helping others so we’re looking for an attitude that says I really love what I do and I’m here to help you with your problems. Building strong relationships is crucial to mentorship so we’re looking for candidates that are able to listen actively, empathize, and put themselves in their mentee's shoes.

Growth mentors are entitled to have strong opinions but they must be able to communicate them respectfully and with an awareness of the needs and/or condition of the person they are talking to.
